NEMDA is a strong supporter of Orthopedic Foundation For Animals (OFA).  It is a database system to assist dog owners in lowering the incidence of inherited disease. 

The OFA, working with NEMDA, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all Entlebuchers. Entlebuchers meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers.

Entlebucher DNA Repository 

NEMDA is also supporting DNA blood draws for Entlebuchers for the OFA DNA Repository. At the last three Entlefests from 2021 - 2023, NEMDA in partnership with the Entlebucher Preservation Foundation has helped collect over 40 Entlebucher blood samples. NEMDA's goal is to have all our Entlebucher members in the DNA Repository.
