Breeding Philosophy and Goals:
Since 1996 I have had the pleasure of owning 6 Entlebuchers. For this breed to continue to provide the companionship I have enjoyed with these dogs there needs to be more public exposure of the breed in conformation and performance events. New genes need to be brought into the American gene pool. Being a breeder is a huge responsibility; it is not for everyone. But there needs to be more breeders if there are to be Entlebuchers for generations to come. Breeding only dogs that meet the BCOE’s health, conformation, and temperament standards is a given.
Lego is my 6th Entlebucher, but he is the first I considered breeding. In the past I was happy that there seemed to be enough Entle owners who wanted to be breeders, so I did not worry about it. Now I am concerned if there are enough.
