Ring Ready Handling Class
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Jacobson Park

Ever watched Westminster or the AKC National Championship and imagined yourself winning Best of Breed—or even Best in Show? While it all looks incredibly polished on TV, the real-life show ring is often a lot less glamorous and a whole lot funnier!

If you’ve never stepped into the ring before but are curious to see what it's all about, or if you're just looking to brush up on your skills before the Specialties, this class is for you. Join us for a light-hearted, low-stress look at showing your dog that is guaranteed to take the nerves right out of the process.

What we’ll cover:

  • The Basics: We’ll get everyone into the ring to run through the foundational mechanics of showing.
  • Pro Tips: Learn easy techniques for teaching your dog to stack, stand beautifully for examination, and show their teeth.
  • Real-World Wisdom: We’ll share essential "do’s and don'ts" born from hard-earned experience.
  • The Blooper Reel: Hear hilarious stories about the most ridiculous things that have happened to even the most seasoned handlers.

Whether you are a complete novice or want a quick refresher before the big weekend, we want to encourage everyone to give it a try! Mark it on your registration form, and let's get you on the way to being Ring Ready!

CEBA Temperament & Conformation Evaluation
Times
8:00 am - Check-in (Please arrive no later than 8:15 am so we may start promptly at 8:30am)
8:30 am - Mandatory Walk-Through
9:00 am - CEBA Start time
Location: Picnic Shelter #4, Jacobson Park
Cost: $50/dog - Registration in the form. There will be no day-of registrations

Come join the FUN!! Be one of eight dog and NEMDA owner teams to participate in CEBA this year. You will learn in a relaxed and noncompetitive atmosphere what makes your Entle unique! We are offering the temperament and conformation portions as a package, so everyone can take part in both. When registering to participate, we encourage both companion and breeding Entles. However, we will give BCOE Entles priority.

Temperament Details
Evaluators: Vivian Moran and Nancy Cheski along with NEMDA’s CEBA crew look forward to assisting you as you walk your Entle through a series of aptitude exercises designed to evaluate your dog’s inherent qualities in nerve strength, sociability, play, prey, hunt, and defense drives. In addition, this process will provide an opportunity to assess your team’s working relationship. After all dogs have completed the course, there will be time to discuss your team’s unique qualities with Vivian and Nancy.

To participate in the CEBA Temperament Evaluation, PLEASE

  • Dress your dog in a flat collar - no special control devices, treats or toys can be used.
  • Attend CEBA’s day-of “Walk the Course with the Evaluator”

Conformation Details
Our team of AKC Conformation Judges will observe your Entle from the tip of its nose to the end of its tail, while you learn how your Entle compares to the Breed Standard. CEBA Conformation Judges Nancy Amburgey and Chris Anne Moore look forward to meeting you and your Entle and sharing their knowledge with you about your dog.

To participate in the CEBA Conformation Evaluation, PLEASE:

Notes
  • We recommend that your Entle be at least 18 months old before participating in CEBA.
  • Registration is located in the Event Registration form. Sign-up soon to hold your evaluation spot. We have a limit of 8 dogs. There will be no “day-of” sign-ups.

CEBA Volunteers Needed!
Can you and your family help with CEBA? Join us Friday morning as a CEBA volunteer! Volunteering for CEBA is fun in two ways: it is a great chance to see the commonalities and differences of typical Entles as they respond in a variety of situations, and a chance to mingle with fellow members with a purpose. Should this be your first time volunteering, don’t worry, we’re all learning together and we can show you how easy your role is. We need ten volunteers for the friendly stranger exercise and to help with the stimulus exercise.

Conversations for Breeding Better Together
Time: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Location: Jacobson Park Shelter #4

The NEMDA Breed Committee invites you to join us for an insightful and open roundtable discussion on Friday, August 28, 2026, following CEBA and lunch.

Whether you are an experienced breeder, considering breeding in the future, or simply an Entlebucher enthusiast interested in learning more about the breed and its future, you are welcome to participate. Join us in conversation as we explore the topics of breeding education, health testing, mentorship opportunities, financial preparation, preserving genetic diversity, supporting new (future?) breeders, and ways we can work together to encourage responsible breeding and long-term breed sustainability. This informal discussion is designed to inspire idea sharing, questions, and collaboration in a supportive environment. There is no cost to attend.
